This piece depicts Hopi katsinas entering the plaza, inspired by my attendance of Home Dance on Shungopavi, Second Mesa, Northern Arizona. This ceremony takes place in July when the katsinas go to their home on San Francisco Peaks until they return to Hopi again in February. My intent is to capture the enormity of feeling and reverence generated through witnessing this sacred ceremony.
