Have you ever been in places where there is little to no exterior artificial light? I’m fortunate to live in one. Sometimes in the darkest part of night I go outside, gaze upward and become awestruck. As my eyes adjust, what at first may seem limited pinpoints of light…become limitless. And the more I allow my eyes to rest in that vastness, the more I feel the draw to just let go, to leave any thoughts behind and slip out of my skin. I feel the Universe beckoning me into communion.
This poem, written long ago, expresses the beauty of those moments to me, and became embodied in this art completed during the pandemic.
Infinite Universe
fill me
with the beauty of light.
Lift my spirit
and dance me home.
Sculpture elements: fiber clay, Czech seed beads, Swarovski crystals, French bullion wire, shell, oil and cold wax.
